Place your cursor where you want to insert content.

On the Insert tab, select the arrow next toÂ
 Object, and then choose  Object or  ​​​​Text from File.  -
Choose a file or object and select Insert.

Select where you want to insert document contents.

On to Insert tab, select the arrow next toÂ
 Object and choose  Object or  Text from File. -
Choose a file or object and select Insert.
Inserting the content of a document isn't currently possible in Word for the web. You can, however, insert contents in the Word desktop app.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop.
