Note: Your draw tab may have slight differences depending on the app or version you are using. 

Selection Tools – Select and Lasso  

Select tool allows the user to select objects including ink, shapes and text area.

Tip: This is also useful if you want to leave off Draw Mode and start typing again as it brings the typing cursor back on page.

Lasso is a special selection tool that selects ink by drawing a free-form shape and all the ink strokes within that shape gets selected.

Eraser 

To remove your ink, you can utilize the eraser found within the Draw tab. There are with two options – the first one is a stroke eraser that allows a user to erase the entire stroke in one go and the other one is the point eraser which has multiple thickness options that allows a user to be more precise when erasing a small section of the ink.

Highlighter  

Highlighter from the Draw tab ribbon lets you highlight important section of your notes. Like the Pen tool, this also comes with five different thickness options and multiple colors to choose from.

Laser pointer  

Laser pointer allows you to highlight or point to anything on the canvas. It's great for bringing emphasis to a particular topic or diagram you may be sharing with others. There are six different color options available, allowing you to choose the color that best suits your needs. This tool can be useful for drawing attention to specific areas of your notes during a presentation or for creating diagrams and illustrations. 

Note: This feature is currently available only on the Windows platform in OneNote for Microsoft 365.

Ink Pen 

Ink Pen enables users to write or sketch on the page using ink. From the pen's dropdown menu, users can adjust the ink's thickness, with a variety of thickness options available. The Recent Colors menu makes it easy to access custom colors that have been recently used within the Pen Menu dropdown. You can also define your own inking palette for the pen by selecting More Colors and exploring the infinite color options. Additionally, you can add some sparkle to your notes with Effect Pens that come in options like Galaxy, Rainbow, and Lava.

Rulers 

Ruler helps you draw perfect lines at any angle by clicking on the Ruler button from the Draw tab.

Tip: If you are on a laptop, try rotating the ruler clockwise or counterclockwise by positioning the cursor on it and using two fingers over the touch-pad in upward or downward direction respectively.
