Learn about your profile in Microsoft Teams (free)

• For nonminors, the email address and profile picture used during setup will be visible on your profile. These account identifiers and other contact information from your Microsoft account may be visible to people you communicate with using Teams. By default, your phone number will not be visible to other people in Teams. You can always change this through the privacy setting. • You will receive Teams meeting invites at your visible email address. If you hide your email address from your profile, you will stop receiving meeting invites over email.

• On reinstall, users need to onboard to Microsoft Teams (free) again. If you sign in with a different alias from the same Microsoft account, the information (phone number and/or email) will be added to your Microsoft Teams (free) profile.

• If you communicate with users not on Teams like sending chat invitations, your profile picture may be visible.

• If someone has your visible phone number or email saved in their contacts and you join Microsoft Teams (free), they'll receive a notification that you're on Teams.

• Your Microsoft account is the same account you use to sign in to Microsoft Teams (free) and other Microsoft services, like Skype and Outlook. Learn more about your Microsoft account.

• By default, people can search for you in Microsoft Teams (free) using your phone number or email. Learn more about managing how people can find you in Microsoft Teams (free).

• If someone has your phone number or email saved in their contacts and they join Microsoft Teams (free), they will see that you are on Teams.

• If you are in a group chat, other members will be able to see you are in the group. They can request to start a new direct chat with you via the group.

• When a child creates a Microsoft account, parental consent is required to authorize the account creation and the subsequent use of Microsoft products and services while signed in by that account.

• An authorized minor who has joined Microsoft Teams (free) will be searchable by other users only if those users know the phone number and/or email address associated with the minor's Microsoft account.

• By default, users cannot search for a minor by their phone number and/or email address. That information is only visible to a minor in their own profile. Minors can choose to make their email address visible on their profile and searchable to others through Settings. Until they make their email address visible, meeting invites will not be sent over email.

• Communities in Microsoft Teams (free) are not accessible to minors, including creating and joining communities.

• All interactions that happen within a Teams community are visible to all community Members, but of course community members, including minors, may choose to connect with other community members outside of the Teams community space or even outside of Microsoft Teams (free).

• Microsoft Teams (free) offers features that parents can use to have greater transparency and control into how their children are sharing information with other users. 

• We believe that Microsoft Teams (free) is a place where minors can interact safely to build on friendships and meaningful community. We also know that keeping online experiences safe and positive involves more than building in permission settings and controls. We encourage parents to talk to their children about how they use Teams. Talk about what they’re seeing and sharing and who they are talking to and let them know behavior that is inappropriate in real life is just as inappropriate online.

Currently we don’t support deleting your Microsoft Teams (free) profile in the App. You can go to your account to delete any information around your profile and the same will reflect in the App instantly.

If you remove your email or phone number from your account, it will be deleted from your Microsoft Teams (free) profile immediately. As a result, users will not be able search for you through phone number or email. 

Regardless of your email visibility, you might receive communication emails, emails sent on behalf of other users, and promotional emails from Teams. To stop receiving these emails, go to Settings > Notifications > Emails.

You can change your name and photo from the profile page. This will update the information on your Microsoft account. Learn more about editing your Microsoft Teams (free) profile.
