Open the Visual Basic editor

• On the Developer tab, select   Visual Basic. or press Alt+F11 to open.

1. If you don't see the Developer tab, on the File tab, select Options.

2. Select Customize Ribbon.

3. Under Main Tabs, select the Developer checkbox, and then choose OK.

• On the Developer tab, select   Visual Basic, or press fn+Option+F11 to open.

1. If you don't see the Developer tab, select Excel at the top of the screen.

2. Select Preferences and choose Ribbon & Toolbar.

3. In the Customize the Ribbon pane, select the Developer check box under Main Tabs. Select Save.

Opening the Visual Basic editor isn't currently possible in Excel for the web. You can, however, open the Visual Basic editor in the Excel desktop app.

• To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.
