Moving a task between two other tasks

You have moved a task between two other tasks, indicating that there may be a dependency between the tasks. If these tasks are dependent on one another, you can link them sequentially with the Planning Wizard. Linking the tasks allows the finish of the earliest task to drive the start date of the next task, which in turn drives the start date of the remaining task. By linking tasks, you can see later how changes in the start, finish, and duration of a task affect other dependent tasks.

Note: Go to Link tasks in a project for additional information.

Using the Planning Wizard, you can:

Link the three tasks together creating a finish-to-start dependency.

Microsoft Project will move the tasks and link all three tasks together. Work will begin on the second task as soon as the first task is completed. Work will begin on the third task as soon as the second task is completed.

Move the task without adding any new links.

Project will move the task, but will not link it to the other tasks.

Cancel the move and not add any links.

Project will not move the task or add any links.

If you don't want the Planning Wizard to display this information again, select the Don't tell me about this again check box.
