On the Design tab, select
Watermark. -
Select a watermark, such as DRAFT or Confidential.
Tip: If you already have a watermark on one page, remove the watermark first and then add one to all pages so you don't get two watermarks on one page.
Adding a watermark isn't currently possible in Word for the web. You can, however, add a watermark in the Word desktop app.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.

Select one of the following:Picture: Use Select Picture to choose an image. Set the Scale and Washout.Text: Use drop-downs to choose Text, Font, Size, color, or Orientation.

Select OK when done.
