In classic Outlook, in an email message, select File > Encrypt.

Select the option you want.
Note: The new Encrypt button contains both the S/MIME and IRM encryption options. The S/MIME option is only visible if you have an S/MIME certificate configured in Outlook. For detailed instructions on adding encryption, read Set up Outlook to use S/MIME encryption.

In new Outlook, in an email message, select the Options tab.

Select  Encrypt, then choose an option from the menu.
Note: If S/MIME isn't installed, you'll need to get a certificate and install the S/MIME add-in. For more info, see Set up Outlook to use S/MIME encryption.

In Outlook for Mac, in an email message, select (...) More options.

Select Encryption, then choose an option from the menu. If you don't see Encryption, select Customize Toolbar and add it to the ribbon.
