Microsoft Teams is a collaboration app that helps your team stay organized and have conversations—all in one place.

  • Teams - Find channels to belong to or create your own. Inside channels you can hold on-the-spot meetings, have conversations, and share files.

  • Meetings - See everything you’ve got lined up for the day or week. Or, schedule a meeting. This calendar syncs with your Outlook calendar.

  • Calls - In some cases, if your organization has it set up, you can call anyone from Teams, even if they’re not using Teams.

  • Activity - Catch up on all your unread messages, @mentions, replies, and more.

Create and format a post

Create and format a post or announcement to start a conversation in a channel.

  1. Select the New conversation button.

  2. Type a message.

  3. Select Format.

  4. To create an announcement, select a post type > Announcement.

  5. Type a headline and an optional subhead, and then add a color scheme or your own background image.

  6. Format your post including the following options:

    • Add a subject

    • Font size

    • Bold

    • Bulleted list or numbered list

    • Insert link

  7. Select Send.

Use the Planner app

The Planner app in Microsoft Teams brings together all your tasks and plans across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem in a single convenient location. It helps you manage tasks more efficiently for individual plans and team initiatives, as well as larger scale projects.

​​​​​After you add the Planner app to Teams, you'll see:

  • My Day: Includes tasks that are due today, along with any tasks you choose to add to this view.

  • My Tasks: Includes a dedicated place called Private tasks for you to quickly create tasks, Flagged emails, and Assigned to me, which lists tasks that have been assigned to you from Teams meeting notes, plans, and Loop components.

  • My Plans: Includes all your To Do lists and plans.

  • New plan: Create new personal or shared plans directly in the app.
