Summary

Microsoft Teams meeting recordings no longer automatically upload to Microsoft Stream.

Cause

The change is intentional, effective July 21, 2020, for some Microsoft 365 customers.

Resolution

This change is expected to last through the end of 2020, and Microsoft will provide updates for further changes. Meetings recorded before August 15, 2020 are not affected by this change.

Following this change, you will continue to:

  • Record Teams meetings—You will not notice any change in the recording process.

  • Watch a meeting recording—You will first need to download the file from the meeting chat window.

  • Share or archive a recording—You will need to download the file, then manually upload it to either Teams, Stream, SharePoint, or OneDrive (see Upload a Teams meeting recording).

Important: Meeting recordings will be available in the meeting chat window for a period of 21 days after the meeting. After 21 days, the meeting recordings will no longer be available to download.
