Outlook cached mode users are unable to view private items in a shared calendar using MAPI. This issue does not occur when viewing shared calendar using REST in cached mode, MAPI in online mode, OWA, Outlook for iOS, or Outlook for Android.
Tip: To check if the shared calendar is MAPI or REST, right-click on the shared Calendar folder and select Properties. On the General tab, you will see “Type: Folder containing Calendar items (REST)” or “Type: Folder containing Calendar items (MAPI)”.
This issue is initially fixed in build 17014.15000 which will go to the Beta Channel first. Monitor Beta Channel Update History to see when the build gets to that channel, Update History for Office Beta Channel. It will go to Current Channel in late November in builds 17029.20000 and higher. Monitor Update History to see when this build gets to Current Channel, Update history for Microsoft 365 Apps (listed by date).
To work around this problem, use one or more of the following methods to open the shared calendar:
REST in cached mode. To do this, follow the steps in the article, How to enable and disable the Outlook calendar sharing updates.
MAPI in online mode
Outlook on the web
Outlook for iOS or Outlook for Android
