If you're trying to view medium, large, or extra-large icons in File Explorer and you're not seeing thumbnail pictures, you may need to update the setting.

  1. In Explorer, select the View tab, and then select Options > Change folder and search options.
    In Windows 11, on the View tab, select the ellipsis (...), and then choose Options

  2. On the View tab in the Folder Options dialog, clear the Always show icons, never thumbnails check box.

  3. Select Apply > OK. If needed, restart your computer.
