Here are some tips to use when PivotTables don't sort as expected:Â

Right-click the heading of the column you want to sort. Then select Sort > More Sort Options. Select Ascending or Descending. Then choose the field you want to sort by from the drop-down list.

Select a cell in the PivotTable, then on the PivotTable Analyze tab, select
 Options. On the Totals & Filters tab, uncheck Use Custom Lists when sorting.

There currently are not many options to sort a pivot table in Excel for the web. For more info, see Sort data in a PivotTable or PivotChart. You can, however, set options and other features on PivotTables in the Excel desktop app.

To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.
