Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

More Information

This update provides an updated Network Driver Interface Specification (NDIS) miniport driver in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Drivers folder. After you install this update, you have to update the RNDIS device driver to make the new driver take effect. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Start Device Manager, right-click USB RNDIS Adapter in the Network adapters list if the RNDIS driver is already installed. Or, right-click the RNDIS-compatible device from the Other devices list if the driver is not installed yet.

  2. Select Update Driver Software, click Browse my computer for driver software, and then click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

  3. In the popup window, select Network Adapter.

  4. In the Select Network Adapter window, select Microsoft from the Manufacturer list, and then select Remote NDIS compatible device from the Network Adapter list to finish the wizard.

You can also uninstall or reinstall the RNDIS device by using the INF file that is provided by the independent hardware vendor (IHV).
