"Applies to ID must be equal to '' in Vendor Ledger Entry: Entry No.=[XXXX]" error message when you run the Suggest Vendor Payments function on a range of vendors in a certain scenario in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009

This article applies to Microsoft Dynamics NAV for all regions.

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009:

  • You apply a purchase credit memo to an open equal invoice for a vendor by using the Suggest Vendor Payments function.

  • Apayment journal that has zero amounts is generated.

  • You post the payment journal in the Payment Journal dialog box.

  • You run the Suggest Vendor Payments function again.

In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

Applies-to ID must be equal to '' in Vendor Ledger Entry: Entry No.=XXXX.

This problem occurs in the following products:

  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2

  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1

This problem occurs because the Applies-to ID is not cleared when a zero amount payment journal is generated.
