INTRODUCTION

This article describes that an update is available for Help server content for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 for Retail. This update contains additional help content in localized languages. This update enables you to add translated documentation if you are using Microsoft Dynamics AX in a language that differs from English. Additional content is available in United States English on TechNet.

Hotfix information

Installation information

To install the translated content to the Help server, follow these steps:

  1. Save and unpack the hotfix file for the language that you are installing.

    Note When you unpack the hotfix file, each .zip file produces a DynamicsAX2012-KB2670668-language code.msi file. For example, a .zip file produces a DynamicsAX2012-KB2670668-DA.msi file.

  2. On the Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Help server, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Uninstall a program.

  3. If an .msi file for a language that you want to update is included in the list of programs, uninstall it. For example, uninstall Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Help Content (DA) if you want to use the DynamicsAX2012-KB2670668-DA.msi file. Otherwise, go to step 7.

  4. Verify that the Microsoft Dynamics AX DVD image is copied to a network location.

  5. Open the following Microsoft Dynamics AX DVD image folder:

    Drive:\Msi\HelpContent

  6. Delete each HelpContent_language code.msi file from the corresponding language folder. For example, if you download the DynamicsAX2012-KB2670668-DA.msi file, delete the existing HelpContent_da.msi file from the following folder:

    Drive:\Msi\HelpContent\DA
    Note The Uninstall a program process does not remove the .msi files.

  7. Make sure that a folder exists in the HelpContent folder for the language that you are installing. For example, if you are installing Help content in Danish, make sure that a DA folder exists as follows:

    Drive:\Msi\HelpContent\DAThe name of the folder must match the abbreviation of the language, or the language-region combination, that is used in the name of the .msi file. For example, if you are installing the French language that is used in Canada, the folder must be named as fr-CA.

  8. Copy the DynamicsAX2012-KB2670668-language code.msi file to the corresponding language folder. For example, copy the DynamicsAX2012-KB2670668-DA.msi file to the following folder:

    Drive:\Msi\HelpContent\DA

  9. From the Help server, run the Setup.exe file from the root of the CD folder.

    Note If you have not installed the Help server, use the installation instructions to install the Help server. The content for the languages that you select will be installed when you install the Help server.

  10. Click Install, and then select Microsoft Dynamics AX components.

  11. Click Add or modify components, and then click Next.

  12. Select the Help Server component, and then click Next.

  13. Select the Help content to install. For example, if you want to install the DynamicsAX2012-KB2670668-DA.msi file, click Danish. Then, click Next.

  14. Click Install.

Prerequisites

You must have Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 for Retail installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You must restart the Application Object Server (AOS) service after you apply the hotfix.

File information

The global version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

Validation of the application hotfix installation

To validate the installation, open Microsoft Dynamics AX, and then open the help content. Make sure that the Language field and the Alt Help Language field in the Set up general user options dialog box (click File, click Tools, and then click Options) are set to the language in which the help content is displayed. If you change the value in the Language field and in the Alt Help Language field, you must restart Microsoft Dynamics AX. Then, the change will take effect.
