The Microsoft Office 2010 Filter Pack is a single point-of-distribution for Office IFilters. IFilters are components that allow search services to index content of specific file types, they let you search for content in those files. They are intended for use with Microsoft Search Services (SharePoint, SQL, Exchange, Windows Search). The Filter Pack includes the following:

  • Legacy Office Filter (97-2003; .doc, .ppt, .xls)

  • Metro Office Filter (2007; .docx, .pptx, .xlsx)

  • Zip Filter

  • OneNote Filter

  • Visio Filter

  • Publisher Filter

  • Open Document Format Filter

Improvements and Fixes

Before you install the update, Visio 2010 and Visio 2010 Viewer use Litas (LTL) as the unit of Lithuanian currency. After you install the update, Euro replaces Litas in Visio 2010 and Visio 2010 Viewer.

Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. Type Appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

  3. Use one of the following procedures, depending on the operating system that you are running.

    • Windows 7 and Windows Vista

      1. Click View installed updates.

      2. In the list of updates, locate and click update KB2881026, and then click Uninstall.

    • Windows XP

      1. Click to select the Show updates check box.

      2. In the list of updates, locate and click update KB2881026, and then click Remove.

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. If you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.
