Are there input file size limits on Clipchamp?

No, there are no limits to the size of input files you can add to a Clipchamp project.

However, in some cases you might encounter performance or loading issues when working with larger files.

This can depend on:

  • the overall size and length of the video

  • the complexity of the video project

  • the available memory/RAM of the computer that Clipchamp is accessed on

  • the available disk space on the computer

  • the CPU and graphics card of the computer

If you encounter any loading or performance issues when working with larger media files (4GB or more) in Clipchamp, we recommend compressing your source video files before adding them to Clipchamp.

You can achieve this using a video compressing application. There are some good open-source options available when you search for them online that can help to reduce video file sizes while maintaining visual quality.

If you encounter loading or performance issues when adding a large collection of media files to Clipchamp, we recommend splitting up larger imports so that you're adding a smaller collection of files at a lower combined file size at first and then import the remaining media assets in a second operation.
