This article describes update KB3055041 for Microsoft Outlook 2010 that was released on August 11, 2015. This update has a prerequisite.

Improvements and fixes

  • Improves user experience by adding a warning dialog when you try to change the Default or Anonymous permissions on a folder. The warning message may resemble the following:

Changes you make to Default or Anonymous permissions will apply to all users. Are you sure you want to change these permissions?

  • Fixes the following issues:

    • After you send a saved email message (it is saved manually or auto saved) in Outlook 2010, the attachment in the email message is lost and not sent. This issue occurs if you set the DisableBgSave registry key and the email message contains an inline image in a signature.

    • Assume that you right-click an email message from a distribution list and select to create a rule for email messages from the distribution list. When you receive an email message from a member of the distribution list, the rule does not work as expected.

    • When you access certain IMAP mailboxes in Outlook 2010, Outlook 2010 crashes occasionally.

    • The Filter and Conditional Formatting buttons are disabled in the Advanced View Settings dialog box in Outlook 2010. This issue may occur after you search a contact.

    • When you send an email message from a mailbox without the "Send As" permission in Outlook 2010, you receive an NDR with nondescript error message that resembles the following:

This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator. Error is [0x80070005-00000000-00000000].

You expect to receive an NDR with a descriptive error message as follows:

You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so.

    • When you receive and then accept a proposal of a new meeting time for a meeting in Outlook 2010, the meeting time is not updated to the proposed time, but stays to be the original time.

    • When you try to move items from a primary mailbox to an online archive mailbox in Outlook 2010, you receive the following error message:

Cannot move the items. Cannot move or copy the folders. Cannot move folder. A top-level folder cannot be moved to one of its subfolders. Or, you may not have appropriate permissions for the folder. To check permissions for the folder, right-click the folder, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu.

    • Assume that you use the MAPI over HTTP protocol to connect to an Exchange account in Outlook 2010. If the protocol is changed to the RPC protocol or the RPC over HTTP protocol, the primary mailbox is not displayed. This issue occurs after you apply June 9, 2015, update for Outlook 2010 (KB3054881).
