Symptoms

Assume that you change a user's distinguished name in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) in a Microsoft Lync Server 2013 environment. In this situation, other changes for the user are not updated in the Address Book Service (ABS) databases. Therefore, when you sign in to a Lync Server 2013 client and then try to search for the user in the address book, the original information is returned.

Cause

This issue occurs because the ABS incorrectly handles the situation in which the user's distinguished name is changed.

Resolution

To resolve the issue, install the following cumulative updates:

2781547 Description of the cumulative update for Lync Server 2013: February 2013

2781550 Description of the cumulative update for Lync Server 2013, Core Components: February 2013
Note After you install these updates, you must also run the Update-CsAddressBook cmdlet in the Lync Server 2013 environment.
