This compatibility update is offered when you have the release version of Windows 8. No interaction is required to apply this update.

This compatibility update may trigger several actions when you upgrade to the latest version of Windows 8. The following are the most common actions that may occur:

This action puts an upgrade block on an application that may cause the upgrade to Windows 8 to fail. Windows 8 may put an upgrade block on a third-party application only if the manufacturer is notified. The User has to uninstall to continue with the upgrade. -
Reinstall after upgrade
The user can continue to upgrade. However, the application or driver works if a user reinstalls after the upgrade
