Consider the following scenario:

  • You enable Enhanced Protected Mode (EPM) in Windows Internet Explorer 11.

  • You go to a website, and the identity provider (idP) of the website is in a different sandbox than the website. For example, is in a different sandbox than

  • The website requires that EPM is enabled in Internet Explorer 11.

In this scenario, you may encounter cookie-related issues. For example, you cannot sign in to the website, or your personal information is not loaded correctly after you sign in.


This issue occurs because cookies are not shared when the idP and the website are in different sandboxes.

To resolve this issue, install the most recent cumulative security update for Internet Explorer. To do this, go to Microsoft Update.
