If you install this update, we recommend that you also install the Outlook 2013 hotfix package from the October 2013 cumulative update.

Depending on the version of Outlook that you are running, the Outlook 2013 folder pane may not be displayed if you install this update but do not install the Outlook 2013 hotfix package. For more information about this issue, go to the Microsoft Office Updates TechNet blog.


This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft Office 2013 hotfix package that is dated October 16, 2013.


Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • After you save a document that contains an embedded Excel chart as a PDF file in Microsoft Publisher 2013, the Excel chart appears fuzzy in the PDF file.

  • When you open an encrypted document in Microsoft Word 2013, the Find button in the Editing group on the Home tab is disabled. Additionally, when you press Ctrl+F, the find navigation box is not displayed.

  • Assume that you log on a computer by using an account whose username contains full width katakana characters. When you click the Style drop-down list, there are no style options in the list.
