This article describes an issue when system file information folder is shared in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2. A hotfix is available to resolve this issue. The hotfix has a prerequisite.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Hyper-V failover cluster that is running on Windows Server 2012 R2, and you configure the file server in the Hyper-V cluster to share the system volume information folder by using Server Message Block (SMB) 3.0 Transparent Failover.

  • The system volume information folder is accessed by an application that is running on Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.

In this scenario, the Hyper-V virtual machines in the failover cluster restart, and the following event is logged:

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the update rollup 2975719, or install the hotfix that is described in the "Hotfix information" section.

Registry information

To use the hotfix in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry.

Restart requirement

You have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information
