Introduction
This article describes an issue in which the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) allocator takes 3 seconds to respond to incoming DHCP packets on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device. An update is available to resolve this issue. Before you install this update, you must have all previously issued updates for this product installed.
Symptoms
You run the ipconfig /release and the ipconfig /renew commands on a Windows Embedded Compact 7-based device to test the DHCP allocator. If the device is connected to a private network, the DHCP allocator takes 3 seconds to respond to the DHCP DISCOVER and DHCP REQUEST packets.
Note You expect to immediately receive the IP address that is assigned by DHCP.

This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product have also been installed.
Restart requirement
After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

On the Build menu, click Clean Solution, and then click Build Solution.

On the Build menu, click Rebuild Solution.
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this software update.
Update replacement information
This update does not replace any other updates.
