Symptoms

Assume that you create an itinerary to dynamically route a message to an email address by using a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) query in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2009 or 2010. In this situation, the email message is not delivered, and you receive an error message that resembles the following:

There was a failure executing the receive pipeline:
"Microsoft.Practices.ESB.Itinerary.Pipelines.ItineraryReceiveXml, Microsoft.Practices.ESB.Itinerary.Pipelines, Version=2.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Source: "ESB Dispatcher Disassemble" Receive Port: "OnRamp.Itinerary" URI: "/ESB.ItineraryServices/ProcessItinerary.asmx" Reason: Transport location could not be resolved from the resolver string


Cause

This issue occurs because of an error in the LDAP resolver in BizTalk Server 2009.

Resolution

For BizTalk Server 2010

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix Download Available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article. If this section does not appear, submit a request to Microsoft Customer Service and Support to obtain the hotfix.

Note If additional issues occur or if any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request.
