Symptoms

You use the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 to connect to DB2/400 in a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 environment. When you use a network type of SNA LU 6.2 (APPC) for the connection to DB2, the connection may fail, and you receive the following error message:

Invalid User ID or password. SQLSTATE: 08S01, SQLCODE:-568

Note This problem can also occur when you use the Managed Provider for DB2 to connect to DB2/400.

Cause

This problem occurs because the DB2 data provider incorrectly changes the password that is specified in the connection string to uppercase characters. This results in a logon failure.

Resolution

The hotfix that resolves this issue is included in Cumulative Update 1 for Host Integration Server 2010.
