Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release.

Symptoms

In Microsoft SQL Server 2008, you declare a variable of the numeric(2,0) data type, and then set a negative value to the variable. When you try to convert the variable to a tinyint data type, you receive the following error message:

Msg 8115, Level 16, State 2, Line 3Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type tinyint.
