Symptoms

When you use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 4.0 to query an IBM DB2 table that includes column names longer than 44 characters, you may receive an error message that resembles one of the following:

The OLE DB provider "DB2OLEDB" for linked server "linked_server_name" supplied inconsistent metadata for a column. The name was changed at execution time.

Duplicate column names are not allowed in result sets obtained through OPENQUERY and OPENROWSET. The column name "column_name" is a duplicate

The actual error message depends on the format of the query statement being used.
