Symptoms
When you use Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 4.0 to query an IBM DB2 table that includes column names longer than 44 characters, you may receive an error message that resembles one of the following:
The OLE DB provider "DB2OLEDB" for linked server "linked_server_name" supplied inconsistent metadata for a column. The name was changed at execution time.
Duplicate column names are not allowed in result sets obtained through OPENQUERY and OPENROWSET. The column name "column_name" is a duplicate
The actual error message depends on the format of the query statement being used.
Resolution

To apply this hotfix, you must first uninstall the existing installation of Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 version 4.0. Then, use the .msi file that is listed in the "File information" section to install this hotfix.

You may have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
