Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:

You use Microsoft Macro Assembler (MASM) for x86 (ml.exe) or MASM for x64 (ml64.exe) to assemble an assembly language source file in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 that contains the following code:
vpsrld xmm0, xmm1, xmm2
vpslld xmm0, xmm1, xmm2 -
You open the assembled code listing file (.lst), and then you check the outputs.
In this scenario, an incorrect opcode is generated for the vpsrld instruction. Specifically, the outputs of the vpsrld and vpslld instructions are the same.
Note The following is part of the listing file:
00000000 C5 F1 F2/ C2 vpsrld xmm0, xmm1, xmm2
00000004 C5 F1 F2/ C2 vpslld xmm0, xmm1, xmm2
Resolution
Hotfix information

Prerequisites
To apply this hotfix, you must have Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed.
Restart requirement
You do not have to restart the computer after you install the hotfix if the affected files are not being used during the installation. We recommend that you close all Visual Studio 2010-related components before you install the hotfix.
