Consider the following scenario:

  • You use the Microsoft OLE DB Provider for DB2 that is included with Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 to query an IBM DB2 table.

  • The IBM DB2 table contains columns that use the IBM DB2 GRAPHIC data type.

In this scenario, the query results that are returned from the IBM DB2 GRAPHIC data type columns are displayed as Chinese characters.

This problem occurs because the Host Integration Server 2010 OLE DB Provider for DB2 does not correctly handle data conversions from UTF-16 big endian to UTF-16 little endian.

Cumulative update information

The fix that resolves this problem is included in cumulative update package 7 for Host Integration Server 2010. For more information about how to obtain the cumulative update package, see Cumulative update package 7 for Host Integration Server 2010.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
