Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You run FTP Service 7.5 in Internet Information Services 7.5 (IIS 7.5) on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.
-
You create a FTP site.
-
You create a custom logging module that uses the IFtpLogProvider.Log method to record FTP activities for the FTP service. The IFtpLogProvider.Log method uses the RemoteIPAddress and LocalIPAddress members of an FtpLogEntry class instance to obtain IP address information.
-
You use a remote client to connect to the FTP site.
In this scenario, the custom logging module logs the value of the RemoteIPAddress and LocalIPAddress members incorrectly. Additionally, the following are the incorrect values that are logged:

The recorded value for the RemoteIPAddress member incorrectly contains the IP address of the computer that runs the FTP service.

The recorded value for the LocalIPAddress member incorrectly contains a null value.
Note The correct value for the RemoteIPAddress member contains the IP address of the remote client. The correct value for the LocalIPAddress member contains the local IP address that the client used.
Resolution
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites
To apply this hotfix, you must have FTP 7.5 installed on a computer that is running one of the following operating systems:

Windows 7

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Windows Server 2008 R2
-
Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Restart requirement
You may have to restart the computer if the FTP service is running when you apply this hotfix. To avoid a restart, stop the FTP service before you apply this hotfix.
Hotfix replacement information
This hotfix does not replace a previously released hotfix.

The global version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
