Symptoms
A fault message is generated by the following call to the BizTalk ESB Toolkit API:
Microsoft.Practices.ESB.ExceptionHandling.ExceptionMgmt.CreateFaultMessage()
The resulting fault message captures the error type identifier. This message could reach a length of more than 100 characters. When this message is submitted to the EsbExceptionDb database by the Microsoft.Practices.ESB BizTalk application, an exception is thrown by the computer that's running SQL Server.
Cause
This issue occurs because the size of the ErrorType and ExceptionType columns in the Fault table of the EsbExceptionDb database is limited to 100 characters in BizTalk Server.
Resolution
Cumulative update information
The fix that resolves this issue is included in Cumulative Update 3 for BizTalk Server 2013.
Status
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
