Aparajita is a decorative typeface in the Devanagari script, designed for typesetting in Hindi.

Font sample

It has high contrast between thick and thin strokes, and it adds serifs to many of the characters, which is not common in Devanagari, giving the typeface a more Western typographic flavor (that is, more like the Latin alphabet).

In style, Aparajita mimics Latin typefaces that connote “fashion,” “elegance,” and “luxury”. Its decorative style, including oversized counters (spaces within the characters), open knots (hollow rather than filled), simplified tails, and distinctively low-waisted Ra, Kha, Sa, and Śa characters, makes it suitable for short titles, headlines, and packaging, but not for setting body text.

Aparajita has two weights, Regular and Bold, with italic (oblique, slanted) styles for each. It was developed by Modular Infotech, in Pune, India. The font includes a full Latin alphabet in capitals and lowercase letters as well.
