This article describes update 4032236 for Microsoft Office 2016 that was released on July 2, 2019.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2016. It doesn't apply to the Office 2016 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home (see What version of Office am I using?).

Improvements and fixes

Emojis are sometimes displayed as square boxes in Office 2016 on Windows 7. This issue occurs because the Segoe UI Emoji font is out of date. This update installs the latest Segoe UI Emoji font to fix this issue.

Note This update cannot be uninstalled. And it applies to only Windows 7-based computers that have Microsoft Office 2016 installed.
