Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.
Symptoms
Consider the following scenario:
-
You run a Multidimensional Expressions (MDX) query that uses the Crossjoin function against a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) database.
-
The MDX query returns more than 4 billion tuples.
In this scenario, an exception might occur, and then a dump file for Msmdsrv.exe process might be generated.
Cause
This issue occurs because a division by zero error occurs when the Crossjoin function is called.
