Applies ToSQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services

Symptoms

Assume that you have role-playing dimensions in a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008), Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012) or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis Services (SSAS 2008 R2) database. You run a ProcessUpdate command on the database dimension after you change records in the dimension table. In this situation, you may receive incorrect results.Note Role-playing dimensions are cube dimensions that are based on the same database dimension.

Cause

When you run the ProcessUpdate command on a database dimension, the existing partition and aggregation indexes are dropped for only one of the associated role-playing dimensions.Note When you run the ProcessUpdate command, you expect the partition and aggregation indexes to be dropped for all associated role-playing dimensions.
