This hotfix also applies to Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Analysis Services (SSAS 2014).

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have Microsoft Analysis Services 2012 (SSAS 2012) or Analysis Services 2014 (SSAS 2014) installed on a computer.

  • You run a Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) query against an SSAS Multidimensional model in Power View.

  • The DAX query contains an ORDER BY clause that references a dimension attribute. Additionally, the dimension attribute contains an unknown member.

In this scenario, CPU spinning occurs, and the query never finishes running. More specifically, 100 percent of CPU resources are used.
