Symptoms
Assume that you enable the AlwaysOn Availability Groups feature in Microsoft SQL Server 2014. When you insert data into the Clustered Columnstore Index (CCI) on the primary site that causes rowgroups to transition into a compressed state, the REDO thread on the secondary site may encounter a latch time-out error that resembles the following:
Timeout occurred while waiting for latch: class 'COLUMNSTORE_ROWGROUP_COLLECTION', id 0000005B98112B40, type 4, Task 0x0000000008612CA8 : 0, waittime 1200 seconds, flags 0x1a, owning task 0x0000000008612CA8. Continuing to wait
Note This issue is more likely to occur when you have enabled a readable secondary replica, but it is not a requirement of this issue.
Resolution
The issue was first fixed in the following cumulative update of SQL Server.
Cumulative Update 2 for SQL Server 2014 /en-us/help/2967546
Each new cumulative update for SQL Server contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous cumulative update. Check out the latest cumulative updates for SQL Server:
