Symptoms

Assume that you install Microsoft SQL Server 2014 or 2016 Reporting Services and then configure it in SharePoint integrated mode. After you install the cumulative updates, when you open the Data Alert Manager, for example, by clicking Site Settings > Manage Data Alerts, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is '164'. The expected version is '163'.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:     Cumulative Update 2 for SQL Server 2016 SP1

Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2016 Cumulative Update 9 for SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1 Cumulative update 3 for SQL Server 2014 SP2
