Symptoms

When you run a query that performs join operations by using MERGE JOIN in Microsoft SQL Server 2014, you may receive an assertion error that resembles the following:

Comment: 'Stack Trace'

Comment: 'Location:  "qsmerge.cpp":LineNumber

Expression:  m_hrOuter == DB_S_FAKEROW && m_hrInner == DB_S_FAKEROW

SPID:   SPID

Process ID:  ProcessID

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server:

       Cumulative Update 6 for SQL Server 2014 SP2
