Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You run a parallel full-text-search query in an instance of SQL Server.

  • During the execution of the query, a worker thread is aborted at a specific time. For example, the query is canceled.

In this scenario, the query seems to hang.

Resolution

This problem is fixed in the following updates:

Cumulative Update 8 for SQL Server 2017

Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 2

Cumulative Update 9 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 1

Cumulative Update 12 for SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 2
