Symptoms

Microsoft SQL Server 2017 stops responding and generates a crash dump file when you use the large objects (LOB) data type together with columnstore indexes.

Note If the current object's reference count reaches zero, the object is destroyed. When you try to access a member variable from the destroyed object, an access violation (AV) occurs.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
