Introduction

The Image Processing AI component for Intel‑powered Copilot+ PCs is a Windows AI component that enables on‑device image understanding and image processing across Windows features and applications. It uses machine‑learning models and supporting runtime components to perform tasks such as image scaling, segmentation, visual analysis, and foreground and background extraction, preparing images for downstream editing or transformation. By running locally on the device’s dedicated AI hardware, the component delivers fast, low‑latency performance while keeping image data on the device for improved privacy, and it supports image‑based Windows experiences including image enhancement, accessibility features, and AI‑assisted image editing workflows in coordination with other Windows AI components such as Image Transform and Image Creation.
