This article describes update KB3114834 for Microsoft Excel 2013, which was released on March 8, 2016. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT. Improvements and fixes

Fixes the following issues:

  • When you edit cells on which phonetic guides are enabled in Excel 2013, Excel 2013 may crash or cause the file to be corrupted.

  • When you scroll a workbook that has hidden rows in Excel 2013, Excel 2013 may crash. This issue occurs when a narrator is running or when Windows 10 devices are touch enabled.

  • When you run the Find and Replace operation in a workbook in Excel 2013 with listeners registered for certain VBA events, Excel 2013 may crash.

  • It takes a long time to remove a filter on a large column in Windows 10 that has certain accessibility tools. This update fixes performance issues associated with filtered columns.

  • Microsoft Office 2013 apps, such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook, slow down or freeze. This issue occurs after you install February 9, 2016, update for Office 2013 (KB3114717).

To determine whether your Office installation is Click-to-Run or MSI-based, follow these steps:

  1. Start Microsoft Excel 2013.

  2. On the File menu, select Account.

  3. For Office 2013 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item isn't displayed.

Windows 10

  1. Go to Start, enter View Installed Updates in the Search Windows box, and then press Enter.

  2. In the list of updates, locate and then select update KB3114834, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then select Search.

  2. Enter windows update, select Windows Update, and then select Installed Updates.

  3. In the list of updates, locate and then select update KB3114834, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 7

  1. Go to Start, enter Run, and then select Run.

  2. Enter Appwiz.cpl, and then select OK.

  3. Select View installed updates.

  4. In the list of updates, locate and then select update KB3114834, and then select Uninstall.
