Symptoms

After you enable the EnableDelayPostingOfDeferredCOMEvents option for Microsoft Skype for Business 2016, you notice that the process handle count for Lync.exe increases until the client crashes.

Cause

A thread handle is not correctly closed when it is finished. This causes a handle leak.

Resolution

To fix this issue, install the July 7, 2020, update (KB4484326) for Microsoft Skype for Business 2016.
