This article describes an issue that occurs in a Windows Server 2012 R2-based Hyper-V failover cluster. You can fix this issue by using the update in this article.

A Hyper-V host in the Hyper-V failover cluster crashes and generates a Stop error that resembles the following:

STOP: 0x0000007E (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)

  • This Stop error indicates a SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED issue.

  • The parameters in this Stop error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.

  • Not all "0x0000007E" Stop errors are caused by this issue.

This issue occurs because of a race condition in Server Message Block (SMB) cancellation.
