Symptoms
When you use Storage Spaces on a computer that is running Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2008 R2, the Storage Spaces volumes go offline and then online continuously. Therefore, data loss occurs on the Storage Spaces volumes.
Note After this issue occurs, you cannot recover the data on the Storage Spaces volumes.Cause
This issue occurs because the log parsing code does not select the records from the second copy of the log when one copy of the log is corrupted.
Spaceport maintains the log that stores the first writing requests. Because there are two copies of the log in case one copy of the log is missing or is corrupted, Storage Spaces relies on the second copy of the log and continues to work. However, the log parsing code unexpectedly does not select the records from the second copy of the log. Therefore, the storage space is considered fatally damaged, and complete data loss occurs on the volume.Resolution
