Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Inventory in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • You create a new inventory ID in the Inventory Items (10.220.00) screen that is lot-tracked or serial-tracked. Additionally, the lot number or serial number is assigned when the inventory ID is used from inventory.

  • You enter a purchase order for the inventory ID in the Purchase Orders (04.250.00) screen. The the Purchase For box value is set to Goods for Project Inventory.

  • You create a receipt in the Receipt/Invoice Entry (04.010.00) screen for the purchase order.

  • You try to remove the allocation from the inventory ID in the Project Inventory Allocation (10.080.00) screen.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

System Message 17308 - "Inventory Item % is missing one or more Lot/Serial numbers."
