Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You enable Message Queuing (also known as MSMQ) 5.0 on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

  • You run an application that uses Message Queuing to transfer messages to a remote server. Additionally, you enable message encryption for Message Queuing to transfer messages.

  • Two or more queues are hosted on the same remote server.

In this scenario, the contents of the messages may become corrupted, and there is no notification.

Cause

The issue occurs because a race condition may occur when two threads use the same key to encrypt messages.
