Symptoms

The Enable-CSTopology command does not run successfully when you publish a topology by using the Topology Builder tool for Microsoft Lync Server 2010. Additionally, you receive the following error message:

Your topology has been successfully published, but some errors were encountered. For details, check the log file.
Enabling topology Failure.

When you open the deployment log, you receive the following error message:

Error: An error occurred:

"Microsoft.Microsoft.Rtc.Management.ADConnect.SuitabilityDirectoryException""Message-"The LDAP server is unavailable." LdapError-"ServerDown" "<domain controller name>":"389"

Cause

This issue occurs because Topology Builder incorrectly uses the most recently used server names in the cache as the preferred servers.  Therefore, the topology fails to publish if the preferred servers are offline or unreachable regardless other available servers.
